🌊 FlowState Privacy Policy
Last updated: December 2025
Overview
FlowState is a visual debugging tool. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect (spoiler: almost none).
Data We Collect
We do not collect any personal data.
The FlowState browser extension and overlay operate entirely on your local machine or through your own self-hosted server.
How FlowState Works
- Screenshots: When you analyze an element, FlowState captures a screenshot of the visible page area. This screenshot is sent to your configured API server (by default, localhost). We never receive these screenshots.
- Voice Input: Voice commands are processed using your browser's built-in Web Speech API. Audio is processed locally by your browser and is not sent to FlowState servers.
- Settings: Your API endpoint setting is stored locally in your browser's storage. It never leaves your device.
Third-Party Services
When using the default configuration with a local server:
- Google Gemini: If you set up FlowState with Google's Gemini API, screenshots and text prompts are sent to Google's servers for AI analysis. See Google's Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for configuring your own API keys and understanding the privacy implications of the AI services you choose to use.
Data Storage
- All data is stored locally in your browser
- No cookies are used
- No analytics or tracking
- No data is transmitted to FlowState servers
Open Source
FlowState is source-available. You can review exactly what the code does at github.com/ARS923/FlowState.
Children's Privacy
FlowState is a developer tool and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above.
